Foundation
Carrying forward Karen’s spirit of service, generosity, and community.
Why We Exist
The Karen Kares Foundation was created to continue paying forward what Karen loved and supported. She showed up for every child and grandchild—at baseball, basketball, football, dance, piano, and more—and she supported her community and friends alike.
Community Roots
Karen served her community with Zion E.S.D.A. for many years. She worked in Zion Elementary Schools, for a local chiropractor, and at the Cancer Treatment Centers of America (now HOPE). In retirement, she joined the prayer shawl ministry at St. Patrick Church in Wadsworth.
A Promise Kept
Karen’s life changed quickly—only 11 weeks from diagnosis to passing. In that time, she spoke often about wanting to keep living, giving, and supporting even when she could no longer be here in person.
As a caregiver and provider, her interests ran wide. The foundation honors those interests and hobbies by helping others connected to them.
Mission Statement
To strengthen the community, provide additional financial support and opportunities to those already giving back in areas close to the Karen Kares Foundation.
With Gratitude
Thank you to everyone who has helped create and support Karen’s vision, the foundation, and the family.
